When many couples think of Montana for an intimate destination wedding or elopement, they think of the Glacier National Park area. But we have so many incredible gems all across this state where you can have a beautiful location that’s all your own!
One of our favorite areas is the Beartooth Mountains, between Red Lodge, Montana and Yellowstone National Park. Its home to Montana’s tallest peak and dozens of alpine plateaus. You could backpack for days in the Beartooths, but you can also access a few areas by car thanks to a winding scenic highway and a front that stretches for over 60 miles. Basically, it's perfect for intimate weddings and elopements!
With this styled shoot, we wanted to show off the best of Montana’s diverse landscapes - from the thick forest and massive peaks, to the wide open, big sky country.
Kate and Adam are married friends of ours, and we knew they’d be perfect to help us bring this to life. They both grew up in Billings and can never imagine calling another state home. Adam loves to hike and fish when he’s not teaching high school English and coaching cross country. Kate also loves the outdoors and is not only a freelance digital marketer but also an extremely talented model. They're a ton of fun together! We're so thankful they were down to have this adventure with us.
While their wedding 5 years ago was a large family affair at a hometown venue, we heard from Kate that she secretly would have loved an intimate mountain elopement. I think we succeeded in making that dream come true!

We left the forest to go up on top of the mountain plateau, where the colors were simply stunning. It's always incredibly windy on these plateaus, and this day was no different, but there's something so romantic about how the wind plays with dresses! We purposely chose a dress that would dance and flow - and also planned Kate's hair so she could embrace the elements without worrying about being blown away.
