Yellowstone National Park is known for wildlife. Getting out to wildlife watch at dusk or dawn is a beautiful way to experience Yellowstone in its truest form on your elopement day, and makes for a relaxed and magical experience! Lamar Valley is THE spot to see the greatest variety of wildlife and has beautiful landscapes as well.

While Tower Falls is iconic, it's hard to get Artist's Point to yourself and ceremonies are highly restricted. A more private location is Undine Falls. A small pullout provides ample parking and great views.

How to Elope in Yellowstone National Park: Permits & Rules


Feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start? Don't worry - that's what we're here for! We know exactly what you need to do to elope in Yellowstone and can guide you every step of the way.


We offer elopement packages with photography, officiant, and wedding planning support so that your Yellowstone elopement is a breeze!

  1. Yellowstone National Park Ceremony Permit: Couples are required to get a Special Use Permit to conduct wedding ceremonies of any size in Yellowstone. Submit the application form and $250 non-refundable application fee as outlined on the national park's website.


    Special Use Permits must be requested at least 10 business days in advance. Applications are accepted up to 12 months ahead, but permits are typically issued only a few weeks before the event due to changing conditions.


  2. Yellowstone National Park Ceremony Locations are restricted to particular spots, and are not allowed at thermal features or popular places such as Artists Point during peak times of day. For the most up-to-date info, please see Yellowstone National Park's Weddings website.


  3. Photographer Permit: As of spring 2026, we do not need any additional permits for your Yellowstone elopement photography.
