Madison River Fly Fishing Elopement | Ennis, Montana

Updated: Jan 5, 2022

When we first talked to Lauren and Adam, they said they "basically want to take a flyfishing trip to Montana and come home married." Their elopement was that and so much more! Especially since Neal is a former whitewater guide, getting out on the water was a dream for this adventure elopement photographer, too.

The couple had previously fly fished on the Upper Madison River and fell in love with the area. We started the day at sunrise on a beautiful stretch of the river. The couple took one boat along with a local guide, and we hopped in their cataraft to float along with them.

After a brief siesta (during which thunderstorms cleared the valley of wildfire smoke, making the mountains finally visible!), we had their ceremony on the property of their AirBnb. Lauren and Adam chose to have their parents be part of their destination elopement, so we included them in the ceremony through a handfasting, in which each parent placed a cord before Lauren and Adam "tied the knot."

To top off the day, we brought out our canoe for an evening session on the lake. These two have beautiful chemistry and a true sense of adventure. We all went home with wet feet and full hearts!
